For my program group’s first Case Study location, we visited the incredible Mt. Nicholas Sheep Station right off of Lake Wakatipu (the longest lake in New Zealand).

At the Station, we had the opportunity to speak with and learn from Kate, one of the owners of the farm.
Kate taught us the basics of Merino wool, the global industry surrounding their company, and how they maintain their farm in regard to environmentally friendly practices. Along with learning about the standard and quality of Merino wool, Kate also demonstrated what daily life looks like on the farm by introducing us to their sheep dogs and what their role is, their farm manager, and, of course, their sheep! More information can be found on my Case Study 1 my New Zealand 2019 page!
